It has to be said that Victoria Road, the home of Bar Vini appears to have become revitalised, securing more and more exciting and exclusive places to eat and drink.
This trendy and casual Italian eatery opened at the start of 2020, and has thankfully survived despite the various lockdowns and restrictions it has had to deal with, through running a seamless takeaway food and cocktail service throughout.
Although this spot may not look up to much from the outside, upon entering you will find a beautifully decorated, classy restaurant.
The one potential downfall to this authentic Glasgow restaurant, however is that it is slightly out of the way, yet without a doubt worth seeking out.
I am told that the cocktails are first class, however, unfortunately none were sampled as we were instead drawn to the fantastic wine selection, all of which can be ordered by the glass.
The Italian influence certainly stood out through the section of the cocktail menu dedicated to negronis- offering 5 different variations of the classic and reputable Italian drink.
The menu at Vini is a welcome change to your typical, excessive Italian restaurant menu, instead offering a more paired back offering consisting of just 4 starters and 4 mains.
However, this didn't make it any easier to choose as all 4 options looked and sounded amazing.
The menu changes regularly, meaning that you are never likely to visit and have the same dish twice, keeping things interesting and exciting!
To start, we shared a portion of the freshly baked focaccia, which was great.
Mains wise, we eventually decided on for the Beef shin Ragu, and the Salsiccia sausage Lasagne.
Both dishes were simple but effective and of an amazing quality. Additionally the pasta was cooked to perfection.
As much as these dishes are aesthetically pleasing, they taste just as good with heaped portion sizes and amazing flavours.
There is also an inviting desserts menu with classic options such as Tiramisu, Pannacotta and cannoli. We were provided with such an enormous portion of Tiramisu to share that we ended up taking some home!!
The decor at Vini sets the perfect vibe for a relaxed and cosy yet fun evening and was the perfect balance of characterful and aesthetic, but without trying too hard.
I have to say the vibe at this trendy Glasgow restauraunt is something reminiscent of a trendy Italian trattoria in New York.
The staff were personable and knowledgable about the menu. Further to this they had the ability to pair the perfect wine to any dish. Service was excellent, as 2 diners who like to take their time over a meal, we never felt rushed into ordering, or leaving at any point.
To make a reservation, the restaurant does not have a phone number, however you can make a booking via open table on the Bar Vini website.
With regards to pricing, the restaurant is extremely good value for money comparable to other places of its kind... especially with regard to the wine, coming in at around £4 by the glass! In addition to this it is around £10 for a main and starters come in at about £4-£6 each
The 3 course meal, with a few glasses of wine came in at around £50 for the 2 of us.
Bar Vini has got to be up there with one of my favourite Italians in Glasgow.- and undoubtedly the best with regards to value for money on the Glasgow Food Scene. I without a doubt recommend it for anyone who is a fan of Italian cuisine.
