This week, I took a trip to the West End to visit Jay's Grill Bar, a Korean Hot Pot and BBQ spot

This hidden gem is located directly across from KelvinGrove Art Gallery, providing stunning views while you dine.

This dining destination provides you with an experience, to say the least but is undoubtedly my favourite spot so far!!

For me, this is one of the best places currently on the Glasgow food scene.

Upon walking into this location, it is definitely a bit daunting at first as there is so much going on.

It is certainly very chaotic, however, for me this was enjoyable as it was exactly characteristic of this style of restaurant you would experience if you were to travel to somewhere like South East Asia.

The decor and atmosphere of Jay's also undoubtedly causes you to feel as if you have been transported to somewhere far from Glasgow!

Upon sitting down, you are provided with a menu, of which you use a marker pen to tick the boxes next to the items you would like. The variety of combinations you could go for in this regard are essentially endless.

Thankfully, the staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable which was good considering the system which seemed initially very complicated. The owner even came over to explain everything and ensure we knew what we were doing.

The premise behind this restaurant is that you cook all of your own food.

In the middle of every table there is a hot pot, and a grill.
Although the idea of going out for dinner, and cooking your own meal may not appeal to many people, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Jay's Grill Bar, Korean HotPot&BBQ, Menu, broth, hot pot meat, staple food,

You begin by choosing a Hot Pot broth, options include Hot and Spicy, Mushroom, Tomato and Shanghai Style, we went for the hot and spicy broth, this is not for the faint hearted, as for someone who can usually handle quite a lot of spice, I struggled severely. Thankfully we  also went for the shanghai style broth, which was a lot milder.

You then go on to choose the meat to put in your hot pot. We went for a variety including beef, prawns and some dumplings.

Following on from this, you move on to thinking about the grill. For the grill we went for Korean BBQ beef (the restaurants speciality), and Cha Siu pork.  You can also select some veg and a staple foods to go alongside your meal such as Bok Choy, Chinese cabbage and noodles

Although potentially obvious, it has to be noted that all of the meat comes to your table raw, therefore if this is something you tend not to stomach well, this is not the spot for you!

Once you have ordered, you can take yourself to the 'help yourself' area consisting of sauces, rice condiments etc to compliment your meat and veg.

Service is extremely quick as our food arrived within a matter of minutes!

Moreover, all ingredients were clearly fresh and of a very high quality.
There is also a member of staff constantly checking in on you and replenishing food.

As the Hot Pot starts to simmer, and the Grill starts to sizzle, you begin to pile your ingredients on, and allow them to cook. Again, if you are not certain on cooking times, and when your food will be done, the restaurant is full if staff who will stop by to help and advise you.

My personal faves were the BBQ Korean spiced pork, and the dumplings!

As well as a fab meal that you eventually get to eat, it is a fun and interactive experience, making it something a bit more interesting and exciting for your weekend meal out!

Busy, chaotic, authentic atmosphere, Jay's Grill Bar
The busy and bustling atmosphere  of this trendy Glasgow restaurant also undoubtedly elevates the experience.
It has to be said that company is certainly an important part of this kind of eating out experience!

This spot was packed on a Saturday night therefore I would recommend that for evenings and weekends to definitely make a reservation.

I have to say I don't recommend you make many plans for after your meal- as you will be absolutely stuffed!

With regards to value for money, the restaurant is of an all you can eat style and you pay per person rather than per dish. It is £25 a head.

For me, Jay's Grill Bar is a must visit spot if you're looking for an authentic Glasgow restaurant with a unique dining experience and some amazing food!!

It is difficult to capture the essence of this spot in words, therefore, for a more well rounded idea, please pay a visit to our TikTok, linked below, which is likely to give you a better idea!
