This weeks Glasgow dining destination is Finsbay Flatiron!
Finsbay Flatiron is a West-End located bar and steak kitchen.
This happening spot is fully booked most weekends, and it is easy to see why.
It is the perfect balance between a trendy gastropub and fine dining experience- perfectly toned for a fun but relaxed Friday night dinner and drinks.
In addition to this, it is easily accessible, being just under a 10 minute walk from Kelvinbridge subway station.
Upon entry, there is a front bar area where drinks and food can be enjoyed and a back area, where we were sat, which contained the kitchen and more of a restaurant vibe.
We began the night with a cocktail; a Mojito and a Cosmo, other options included the classics such as Aperol Spritz, Espresso Martini and a Margarita. The cosmo was to die for- we ordered 2 more after our meal!
There is also an extensive and reasonably priced wine list, including a lovely Albariño.
Finsbay undoubtedly provides the best combination of Steak and sides on the Glasgow food scene. Their signature dish is the Flatiron Steak, so this is exactly what we ordered!
The steak- medium rare was cooked and seasoned to perfection
Alongside this we went for Mac & Cheese topped with pancetta and Truffle and Parmesan fries- which were fab!
The portion sizes were also generous, as we could have easily ordered just one side between us.
The service was extremely efficient and staff were upbeat and friendly. At one point we felt slightly rushed into ordering our food, but once we let them know we wanted to have a drink first, this was not an issue at all. In addition to this, food came promptly and was piping hot on arrival.
In comparison to a normal steak dinner, the prices at Finsbay are extremely fair.
The Signature Flatiron steak comes in at just £10 during the week £12 at the weekend.
On top of this, the entire bill which consisted of the 2 steaks, 2 sides and 6 drinks came in at around £70, which we found very reasonable for the quality of food and drink we were provided with.
However, one of the best things about the West End is the great variety of places to go for fab cocktails, therefore we opted to continue our night at The Hill Head Bookclub- which is great fun on a Friday night.
Simply put, this trendy Glasgow restaurant is a must visit for steak lovers, and at such good value for money, I'll certainly be back!!
